Is learning Japanese hard? Of course it is but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do it. Makeshift Japanese is the blog that gives you basic tools you need to start communicating in Japanese right away.

I’ve been living in Japan and working as a language teacher for a long time. I have a Master’s Degree in the science of language learning and have passed level N1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency test. My Japanese isn’t perfect, but I can say I’m functionally literate and conversationally fluent. I learned almost everything I know through immersion and self study.

This is the place where I’ll share straightforward Japanese tutorials, research based language learning strategies, and basically everything that has worked for me. Whether you are a total beginner or you’ve been at it for a while like me, you will find something that will help your Japanese learning.
